Clear aligner therapy is a specialized orthodontic treatment prepared based on an oral impression, typically a digital one. With the transparent trays used in aligner treatment, it is almost impossible to notice that anything is being worn on the teeth.
Thanks to this discreet feature, aligners have increasingly become the most preferred orthodontic treatment for adults today.
In the modern world, aesthetic perception has evolved significantly. The appearance created by traditional metal braces is often undesirable, especially for adults. Furthermore, the physical challenges associated with wires can be discouraging. The ability to easily insert and remove trays during aligner treatment provides exceptional convenience in daily life.
With recent advancements in orthodontic treatment, techniques that offer greater comfort and faster results have emerged. Aesthetic developments initially began with clear and white bracket systems. In recent years, however, the most significant breakthrough in aesthetic orthodontics has been aligner systems.
Since no metal or porcelain brackets are bonded to the teeth and there are no wires, aligner systems are aesthetically superior. Additionally, individuals can easily remove the trays themselves while eating or drinking. This ensures that any food or beverage can be consumed with high levels of comfort.
Aligner systems are a suitable treatment for patients of all ages.
As Periodonta Master Dental Clinic, we aim to provide our patients with the most up-to-date and aesthetic solutions. Thanks to Clear Aligner technology, our patients can correct tooth crowding without interrupting their social lives.
Using aligners is very easy and comfortable. Patients can even perform the changes between trays themselves based on the doctor's recommendations. Although there may be a slight adjustment period during insertion, removal, and speaking at first, this phase is brief. On average, after 10 days, the trays feel completely natural.
It is recommended not to consume hot drinks or chew food while wearing aligners. Cleaning of the aligners should be performed according to the dentist's specific instructions.
In addition to these practices, attending follow-up appointments at intervals determined by the doctor is essential.
Like all dental treatments, aligner therapy begins with a detailed intraoral examination. A panoramic X-ray is beneficial prior to the examination. In certain cases, advanced imaging (Cephalometric, CT scans, etc.) may be requested by the orthodontist.
All tooth and gum issues must be resolved before taking the aligner impression, as there should be no alterations to the dental structure once the impression is finalized.
In the second stage, a digital impression is usually taken using an intraoral scanner. If a conventional method is used, the physical impression is scanned with 3D scanners and sent to the aligner production center where the treatment design is created.
The design center prepares a treatment plan and shares it with the doctor. If necessary, changes are made; otherwise, the plan is approved, and production begins. Once the trays are produced and delivered to the doctor, they are handed over to the patient with instructions on usage, care, and follow-up schedules.
There is no age limit for aligner treatment, and it can be applied to any individual. Suitability for the treatment is determined by a specialist orthodontist.
